In Her Words
We have all, at one time or another experienced grief, loneliness, failure, sadness, disappointment and trauma. Life is tough, and going it alone is not always the answer. We so often hear the saying “It takes a village” in the context of raising children, but what if we looked at it from a general life view, what if it also “takes a village” to navigate the storms and challenges life presents us?
What if getting someone to walk alongside us makes us stronger and better able to face our challenges, reach our goals and let go of our excess baggage? My passion is supporting my clients on their journey, whatever that journey may look like. My purpose is to walk the road with them as their confidante and sounding board. It could be a journey toward recovery (addiction, grief, behaviours, co-dependency) mental and emotional wellness, overcoming trauma, improving relationships, or just setting a goal that they want to achieve.
There is a well inside each of us that is filled with hope, knowledge, confidence, joy and so many other untapped resources. My greatest joy is seeing my clients unlock that wellspring within themselves and see their best self spring forth.
Linda Lam said, “One good conversation can shift the direction of change forever”.
Are you ready to have that conversation?
“An empty lantern provides no light. Self-care is the fuel that allows your light to shine brightly.”

TIR (Traumatic Incident Recovery)
What is TIR ?
TIR is an effective short term therapy for people of all ages who have been exposed to one or more traumatic events. Unresolved trauma can have many negative consequences on an individual; mentally, emotionally and physically. TIR helps to address and resolve these and allows the “viewer” to work through the trauma until the “emotional charge” related to it, is no longer experienced. This in turn can help to improve negative thoughts and emotions, thereby lowering stress and anxiety, enhancing a positive mindset and increasing pleasure. It can also help people to recognise their potential more fully.
The National Registry of Evidence-Based Practices (NREPP), which is a service of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in the USA, acknowledges TIR as one of the accepted effective techniques to address Trauma and PTSD in USA war veterans. The National Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) reports that TIR is a brief therapy technique that works to permanently remove the negative emotional consequences of a past trauma.
Where did TIR Originate?
TIR was developed in the 1980’s by two American professionals, namely Frank A. Gerbode, M.D., a psychiatrist and Gerald French, an educational psychologist. Their focus was to find a simple, highly effective tool to address Trauma and PTSD in USA war veterans. By using TIR, Gerbode and French could help these individuals, within a relatively short time, to come to terms with their experiences and to re-enter society successfully.
“You look at me and cry; everything hurts. I hold you and whisper: but everything can heal.”
– Rupi Kaur
AcuDetox
What is TIR ?
Acudetox is a safe, easy and effective technique that has many benefits. Due to its effectiveness, Acudetox has been integrated into treatment centres worldwide. It has been proven to assist in the reduction of pain, anxiety, insomnia, substance use, withdrawal and cravings as well as various physical and emotional conditions.
What is AcuDetox?
The Acudetox protocol was developed by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) in 1985, to assist with the management of behavioural health symptoms, including addiction.
Acudetox is a form of acupuncture known as auricular acupuncture, as it is performed solely on the ears. It is important to note, however, that although it is performed on the ears, it’s effectiveness for gaining relief from symptoms is not lessened, as the entire human body is mapped in the ears. In much the same way as reflexology, we can address problems in various systems of the body by simply using the ear as a “doorway” to the these systems.
What does AcuDetox involve?
AcuDetox involves the insertion of 5 needles in specific points in each ear, as follows:
Sympathetic Used for calming tension and pain relief
Shen-Men used for calming and relaxing, particularly with anxiety and encourages the internal process of recovery
Kidney used to release toxins, strengthen willpower, reduce fear and encourage rejuvenation
Liver used to detoxify and relieve anger and aggression, allowing the body’s systems to move more smoothly
Lung assists with respiration, detoxification, building immunity and letting go emotionally

other is the framework in which to think

Time to Think™
“The quality of everything we do depends on the quality of the thinking we do first.
The quality of our thinking depends on the way we treat each other while we are thinking. Time To Think has identified ten behaviours that generate the finest independent thinking.”
The ten behaviours that generate the finest thinking, and have become known
as The Ten Components of a Thinking Environment, are:

Attention

Equality

Ease
